OUR MISSION

INTERSECTION AIMS

1 – merge analogue publishing and digital media
2 – engage excluded
artists
3 – train and support creative social entrepreneurs
4 – generate income from both grants and sales
5 – effect lasting social change through creative action

INTERSECTION has been set up primarily as a base for Not Shut Up, a charity which produces a magazine of writing and arts by the unfree, and OFF_PRESS, a non-profit publishing house specialising in translations.

INTERSECTION is run on a non-commercial basis and engages two groups of artists – those who arrived in London from other parts of the world and those who have been in secure custody (prisons, secure hospitals, immigration centres, children's homes, etc.).

It is a work space for organisations working for the benefit of those artists, aiming to reach a range of local and international audiences. It welcomes anyone wishing to take part in our activities – creative groups, digital development programmes, anti-discrimination initiatives and the like.

It serves as a point of sale for books and artworks produced by outsider artists, but can also be hired by other individuals and organisations to generate income to support the aims of the project itself.

INTERSECTION is unique in focusing on a range of publishing and other narrative-based arts projects, as keen on print as it is on digital technologies. Our aim is link up with and support other arts initiatives and centres around London and beyond, becoming a centre of creative social enterprise excellence which, in time, will achieve a range of cultural, economic and social outcomes for the benefit of all.
